Session Evaluation

Our study skills sessions kicked off this semester with our first one looking at learning styles. We had a nice mix of students studying different subjects and from different years. We had time to reflect on our current general skillset before doing a couple of questionnaires to find out what kind of learner we were. To do this, we used the VAK and Honey & Mumford models. Learners found that they tended to prefer one over the other but that both were useful tools for reflecting on how they learn.

We'd be interested in any comments about this as its the first time we run a session on learning styles. I wonder if we could have spent more time discussing the practical implications for this, but by 4:15pm on a Friday, most were ready to call it a day!

If you want to find out more, see our KLE Learning Space. There's a whole section on learning styles for you to look at.
